According to statistics, the Nhon – Hanoi Railway Line had 393,168 passengers using the elevated section during its first days of operation. Specifically, on August 8, the first day of commercial operation with 170 trains running, 37,244 passengers experienced the service. From August 9, the line operated 200 trains, serving 52,280 passengers; on August 10, the line served 66,087 passengers.
Passenger numbers surged over the weekend. Notably, on Sunday, August 11, there were 100,515 passengers.
During the first 15 days of commercial operation, all passengers were served for free. After that, the fare was set at 8,000 VND per station, and 12,000 VND for the entire route.
For the first three months, the line will open at 5:30 AM and close at 10:00 PM, with trains running at regular 10-minute intervals.
Going forward, adjustments will be made based on passenger demand to best meet the needs of travelers on the line.
The Nhon – Hanoi Railway Line is a radial route running from the outskirts of the capital deep into the inner city. Once in operation, it will help alleviate traffic congestion in Hanoi, reduce pressure on vehicles, and ease the load on bus routes with similar itineraries. A plan to enhance connections and transfer passengers via buses has also been completed by the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center.
To connect with stations along the Nhon – Hanoi Railway Line, 36 bus routes are in operation, including 33 subsidized routes and 3 non-subsidized routes; 2 transfer points at Cau Giay and Nhon; and 32 bus stops.
Previously, in the first week of operation of the Cat Linh – Ha Dong line, nearly 166,000 passengers took the train, which is almost half of the number of passengers on the Nhon – Hanoi metro line during its first week of operation.
The Urban Railway Project No. 3, Nhổn – Hà Nội Station section, is 12.5 km long, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations. The elevated section from Nhổn to Cầu Giấy is 8.5 km long, while the underground section from Cầu Giấy to Hà Nội Station is 4 km long.
The project began construction in 2009 and was initially planned for completion in 2015, but it has been delayed multiple times, with costs rising from over VND 18 trillion to nearly VND 36 trillion. The entire line is expected to be completed in 2027, with the elevated section set to be operational in August 2024.
The Nhổn – Hà Nội Station metro line will have 10 trains, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h and an average operating speed of 35 km/h. Each train consists of 4 carriages, with each carriage carrying 236 passengers, accommodating around 950 passengers per trip.
Regarding the route, the Nhổn – Hà Nội Station metro line and the Cát Linh – Hà Đông line will be connected at Cát Linh. However, since the underground section of the Nhổn – Hà Nội Station metro line is not yet complete, the city will initially connect these two metro lines using buses and public bicycles.
In the long term, the city plans to construct a tunnel to connect the two urban railway lines. The Hanoi Department of Transport has stated that it is studying a plan to connect the elevated Cát Linh station (Line 2A) and the underground S10 station (Line 3) within the boundaries of Ba Đình and Đống Đa districts.
The department has proposed implementing Option 2: constructing pedestrian tunnels, transfer rooms, and providing two connection directions.
- To Cát Linh Station (Line 2A): Access via stairs, escalators, and elevators.
- To S10 Station (Line 3): Connection to the S10 station’s transfer level.
