Hanoi housing location

Most expatriates prefer to live in the Tay Ho District where there is the biggest lake named West Lake, while there are others that rather live in Ba Dinh and Cau Giay District due to the large number of international schools as well as many office buildings in the area. For a short tour, normally people choose Old Quarter to stay in. It’s appropriate but for long term lease it’s pricey. In Hanoi, the housing options are diversified, like all other major metropolitan cities around the world. Properties available include houses, townhouses, semi-detached houses, apartments (Condominiums & Serviced Apartments), and fully detached houses which are often generally referred to as “villas”.

The foreigner community in Tay Ho has been well developped for a decade, and people can easily find a lakeview at much cheaper than ever big cities in Asia. So Tay Ho is normally the top choice of teachers, pilots or experts. Singles and young adults often settle in the downtown districts of the city where the nightlife is busy. Students prefer living close to their university (Mainly in Dong Da and Cau Giay district) where cheap living apartments are supplied. Foreign Trade University has a large number of exchange students every year.  Families with kids prefer mid-levels where schools are in the neighborhood and big apartments or villas are supplied. Quality houses are located all around Hanoi from Ba Dinh, Tay Ho to Long Bien, where plenty of high-end apartments, serviced apartments, and dazzling villas can be found.
